Heart of Green Nomination 2011 – Dan Weisenbach

Hi, I’m Jillian Weisenbach, and I’m nominating my Dad — and my Boss, Dan Weisenbach for the Heart of Green Award. He’s an activist, and an innovator whose commitment and passion is genuine and a part of every aspect of his life. In other words — he’s real, True Green. Growing up, my twin sister and I were taught Reduce, Reuse, Recycle right along with Reading, Writing, and ‘Rithmatic. We’d take walks, go to the park, and play games to see who could pick up the most litter. My dad knew how to make recycling cool before green was a trend. And he’s still living it today. In his professional life; he is founder and President of Weisenbach Recycled Products, where I am privileged to work alongside him as he manufactures and distributes amazing products made from would-be trash. He has more than 2 dozen patents and trademarks for products and processes that use waste as raw material. He employs 14 people in his Columbus, Ohio factory — and he values each and every one. As a small business owner, he contributes to job creation and retention, supports the tax base, and provides valuable products to support his customers’ Green Initiatives. Outside of work, he is a powerful presence in our community, serving on the board of Keep Ohio Beautiful and Green Columbus, and an advisor to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Mayor’s “Green Team”. He has been a motivating force behind several projects and events promoting education, awareness, recycling, and litter
